Rents and Service Charges for 2019/20

Below we have rounded up the key points to note on the proposed changes to rents and charges for 2019/20:
Rents for 2019/20 will reduce by 1%. This is the last year of the 1% rent decreases introduced by Government in 2016/17. In 2020/21 rent increases will be capped up to CPI +1%.
The majority of Service Charges are increasing due to rising costs - particularly utility costs.
Garage charges will increase by 5% in line with the Council's policy on Fees and Charges.
The charge for Guest Rooms and Flats in Sheltered Schemes will increase by £2.00 for 2019/20.
The Council's Housing budget for next year will be balanced without the need to draw on reserves.
You can find out more about the charges at the following meetings, where SBC staff will also be available to answer any questions: Monday 17 December at 2pm in CR6 at the Civic Offices, for TASH members and Sheltered Housing residents
