Rightsizing
The Housing team at Swindon Borough Council are about to launch a new project which we can tell you about here.
You will no doubt be aware that in Swindon there is a waiting list for Council Housing and currently there are many homeless families living in temporary accommodation.
This project is about making the best use of the Council Housing that we have available.
A Project Officer will work with tenants' who are under occupying their current homes and assist them to downsize to smaller homes.
These homes will then be made available to families on the waiting list.
The Project Officer can help our tenants' with:
Making a Transfer application on Homebid
Giving priority to their Homebid application
Helping tenants to budget and repay rent arrears to enable them to transfer to another property
Bidding on properties
Assisting with Housing Benefit and Council Tax Forms
Disconnection/reconnection of utilities
The Project Team had their first briefing on16th April 2018 and it is anticipated that it will run for 12 months with regular reviews being held throughout the Project.
