I started this Housing apprenticeship in Property Services two and a half weeks ago on 23rd April 2018.
My first week here consisted of an apprentice induction and some time with the team I would be working with. I have been learning the basics of what I will be doing here by observing members of my team and creating documents outlining everything I need to do to work here.
The second week involved spending some more time with the team learning more about the job that I will be doing and some time helping with another team in the same building.
My role involves processing invoices that we receive from contractors, who carry out work such as, servicing fire alarms, fire extinguishers and boilers, so that they can be paid. I am also involved with checking whether Swindon Borough Council is responsible for maintaining the properties that are being worked on.
I am currently in the middle of my third week and have just completed my college induction at Swindon College where I will complete a Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration over the course of my apprenticeship.
I am happy with the apprenticeship and the work that I have been doing so far and think that the qualification I am doing will be useful in the future and would apply to a wide range of roles that I could potentially do within Swindon Borough Council or wherever I work in the future. I am excited about the opportunities that I will have outside of what I do at college to and I am excited about learning how to use new skills that I am able to apply to my work.
