Invitation to Nominate Participants for March and April 2017 Active Plus Wellbeing and Employability Courses.

Information Note for JCP staff, GPs and Other Referral Partners

The April 2017 Active Plus Wellbeing and Employability course will run for 8 x half-day sessions over 3 weeks (avoiding Good Friday) for up to 8 people. There will also be a participant information session which will be held before the first session. We are now inviting nominations for our forthcoming course. Once you have discussed the opportunity with your client and confirmed their interest, simply inform Active Plus of the person’s name and contact details and we will do the rest.

Active Plus

Active Plus is an award winning Community Interest Company that utilises the skills of wounded, injured and sick (WIS) military veterans to provide a range of personal development, education and wellbeing programmes for people in need. They seek to achieve the dual benefits of rehabilitation and personal development for their employees and volunteers whilst also improving health & wellbeing within local communities.

WIS veterans have a wide range of knowledge, skills and attributes that they can use to help others and, in doing so, enhance their own rehabilitation. They are very effective role models and can achieve a high impact through their communication, team-working and instructional skills. Their programmes include a range of inputs depending on client needs, such as planning, problem solving, communication, teamwork, employability skills, goal setting and personal action planning.

Eligibility Criteria – participants must meet the following criteria:

Employment status: Unemployed or economically inactive
Age: Must be 19 or over
Residency: Must have lived in the UK for the past 3 years and have the right to work in the UK (proof of ID must be shown at the information session)
In addition, participants should meet one or more of the following criteria:
Mental health condition (low to moderate anxiety/depression)
Socially isolated
Difficulty communicating/engaging with other people
Low self-confidence and/or motivation
Health problems, e.g. weight, smoking
Suffered domestic violence or threats
Been a recent victim of crime

Pre-course meeting: 10am-11am on Monday 6th March 2017 at the course venue

The pre-course meeting provides an opportunity for nominated participants to meet the staff and for Active Plus to explain the purpose and content of the course in more detail. Please bring proof of ID to this meeting.

Course structure: 3 mornings per week (Mon, Thu and Fri) from Thursday 9th March – Friday 24th March 2017
