At one of our 33 sheltered schemes, Cockram Court, Town Centre, our tenants’ weekly coffee mornings are held on a Thursday; so when we realised Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday fell on a Thursday we knew we had to make it extra special.
With Union Jack bunting and flags decorating our lounge along with a selection of CD’s covering music from the last fifty years we were ready to go.
Our ‘on site bakers’ had already agreed to make homemade sausage rolls and beautifully decorated cup cakes. (rice paper pictures of the Queen and butterfly shaped Union Jacks), but then it just got better!
We were given a lovely new barbecue from a local company, to enable us to make our Queen’s Birthday Celebrations even bigger. What a great present for us!
And if you don’t think it could get any better – well it did because Mike (the company owner) not only joined us but allowed his staff time out to cook the food for us. The sun shone as we sat in our recently RE:FRESH'd patio and communal garden, being waited on by Alex, (AKA Hughie) Jason, Chris and of course Mike.
So thanks to them, we were able to celebrate a very special occasion in a very memorable way. Thank you!
